We had an amUSAing city final... The competition was some of the best that I have ever seen ( I've attended over
100 karaoke contests over the years). At the end of the first round we chose five finalists. The audience voting and the judges were exactly in agreement on the top 3 selections. Nisha Kataria stunned the audience and actually brought the crowd of over
200 patrons to their feet several times while performing "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. Travis "T-Rock" Wachenduct was 2nd in the 1st round with an amUSAing performance of "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. He had the crowd rocking from beginning to end as he circled the bar singing to groups as he moved around.. He definitely appeared to be the
ladies favorite as they all shrieked and screamed as he was finishing.. Not to be outdone, Frank Carbone came on and gave an extremely spirited version of "Ain't Goin' Down" by Garth Brooks. He also circled the crowd dancing, tipping his hat and twirling with the ladies in the club. The most amUSAing part was he was singing while country dancing with the ladies and never missed a word of a very fast paced song. Our finalist were rounded out by Zach Moore who did a great version of the Darkness' " I Believe in a Thing Called Love", and Kecia Mitchell who wowed the crowd with her powerful version of "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion.

As the finalists began all scores were erased and we started from scratch again. Frank opened with a ballad "Don't take the Girl" by Tim McGraw. He did a great job with the song, but could not get that same crowd frenzy he had achieved in the earlier round. Kecia followed working the crowd while performing "I'm Going Down" by Mary J Blige. Nisha came out and blew everyone away with "Power of Love" by Celine Dion. She worked her way around the crowd singing to each table as she did so and got the audience erupting in cheers and applause 3 different times during the song. It seemed she had it won, but T-Rock was not going to surrender. He came out and sang "What It Takes" by Aerosmith.. He stayed up front and the vocals were amUSAing. If I had closed my eyes I might have believed Steven Tyler was in the house. Zach rounded out our finalists doing a rousing version of "Bed of Roses" that had the ladies in the crowd screaming again. As the judges votes were tallied and the audience votes were counted the crowd and the judges agreed on Nisha as our winner and Travis "T-Rock" as our runner up.. the judges had a tie for the third spot and audience votes were used to break the tie. Frank received the most votes of the remaining contestants and thus took 3rd place.

Nisha received her $500 cash prize and her reservations were completed for her cruise to Cabo leaving on Sept. 30th. Her parents were in attendance and with a few calls to the cruise line they and Nisha's sister, will be going along on the cruise.
